How to Prepare for a Cleaning Service Visit — 10 Must-Do Tips
Simple steps to take before your team arrives so the visit runs smoothly and efficiently.

The final clean doesn’t have to be yours.
Maria’s Team handles the final professional cleaning after your belongings are removed, so you can focus on the move — and hand over the property clean, presentable, and ready for what comes next.
For tenants, homeowners, landlords, sellers and realtors across the GTA.
One More Job After the Move?
The boxes are packed.
The movers are booked.
The keys need to be returned.
And then you look back at the empty house and realize the kitchen, bathrooms, floors, closets, and all the areas hidden behind furniture still need to be cleaned.
That’s the part we take off your list.
Packing, movers, keys, utilities, address changes
New property, furniture, moving dates, elevator access
Children, pets, work — all at the same time
Landlord or property-management handover
And then: the entire old home still needs cleaning
A Clean Handover — Without Cleaning Everything to Death
Move-Out Standard is designed to create a solid, professional handover while controlling labour and cost. The objective is not automatically to spend unlimited time detailing every hidden millimetre of the home.
We prioritize what matters most for a successful handover:
“Spend the labour where it matters most.”
Optional detailed work can be added where it is actually valuable.
Typical Move-Out Cleaning Plans
Every property is different, but these examples show how we typically plan an efficient professional handover.
1–2 bedrooms · 1–2 bathrooms · empty or mostly empty
Typical plan for a well-maintained condo or apartment.
~3 bedrooms · 2–2.5 bathrooms
Typical plan for a townhouse or smaller semi-detached home.
3–4 bedrooms · 3–3.5 bathrooms
Example: 4 cleaners × ~4 hours onsite.
4+ bedrooms · 4+ bathrooms · larger detached property
Starting plan for larger properties. Final scope depends on condition and approved priorities.
These are typical planning examples, not fixed quotes. Actual labour may be lower or higher depending on the property size, condition, number of bathrooms, kitchen buildup, cabinets, appliances, and approved scope. You pay for the actual labour time used.
What Are Total Labour Hours?
12 labour hours does not mean one cleaner stays in your home for 12 hours.
Professional team = faster real time
We use a professional team so the property can usually be completed much faster in real clock time.
Actual-time billing
You pay for the actual labour time used. If the team finishes faster, you pay less.
Approved plan = budget control
We create a realistic planning target before the appointment. You know what to expect.
You Stay in Control of the Labour
Before the appointment, we create a realistic planning target. For example: 12 total labour hours.
If the team finishes in 10 hours — you pay for 10.
If the team approaches 12 hours and additional work remains — we contact you first.
You may choose to:
“We do not silently keep adding labour. If more time would be useful beyond the approved plan, we contact you first.”
Why this matters for Move-Out
Move-Out customers are already managing many moving expenses: movers, deposits, utilities, new property costs, and more.
The last thing you need is a cleaning bill that grew without your knowledge.
Our approval model means you stay in control of the final cost — even if the property turns out to need more work than expected.
What’s Included
Standard covers the key visible and high-impact areas. Premium adds deeper details and finishing. By Request items are available as add-ons and must be selected in advance.
Standard includes normal interior glass wipe, sills, and accessible track wipe. Detailed track cleaning, blinds slat-by-slat, and screen removal are Premium. Heavy residue, stickers, tape, paint, or protective film on glass are By Request add-ons.
Steam, polish, and finishing products are selected based on surface type and condition. We do not use products or equipment where they may damage the surface.
Put the Labour Where It Matters
If your oven is already clean, we don’t need to spend labour there. If the landlord mainly cares about bathrooms, floors, and kitchen condition, those can become the priorities.
We build the plan around the actual property and handover goal.
If your landlord or property manager will inspect the home, we can focus the approved labour on the areas most likely to matter at handover.
For listings and showings, we can prioritize the areas buyers and agents notice first — kitchen, bathrooms, floors, and overall presentation.
Start the next tenancy with fewer complaints and a cleaner first impression. Premium is often the better choice here.
A professional clean can improve the condition and presentation of the property. We cannot guarantee deposit return — that depends on the landlord, lease terms, and inspection decision.
What Can Change the Labour Plan?
Grease, soap scum, pet hair, dust, cabinet crumbs, wall marks, and floor buildup all affect labour time.
Empty homes give better access to floors, closets, edges, and baseboards — but also reveal more buildup that furniture may have hidden.
Inside oven, fridge, cabinets, drawers, range hood filters, and dishwasher filters add time and must be selected in advance.
Detailed window glass, tracks, blinds slat-by-slat, and screen removal are Premium or By Request items.
Standard focuses on clean handover. Premium adds hidden details, steam/detailing, polishing, and property presentation.
Landlords, buyers, agents, and new tenants often notice different details. The higher the expectation, the more Premium makes sense.
More bedrooms, bathrooms, and floors mean more labour. Basement and garage are By Request add-ons.
Heavy grease or significant soap scum and lime scale can materially increase labour time beyond the typical plan.
If the real condition requires materially more labour than the approved plan, we contact you before continuing.
Moving-Day Coordination
Preferred: after most or all belongings are removed.
An empty property gives the team better access to floors, closets, edges, baseboards, and areas previously hidden by furniture.
If movers and cleaners are on the same day, we recommend coordinating areas so movers and cleaners are not working over each other.
For the best result, we normally recommend cleaning after the main move-out is complete — or coordinating a clear handoff time so the team can work without interruption.
Real Proof
Before you book, you can watch real cleaning work from our team and hear from clients who hired Maria Team Cleaning. We show real videos, real homes, real client testimonials, and verified Google reviews — not anonymous stock-style proof.
For move-out cleaning, the goal is a clean handover, clear scope, and a property that feels properly reset for the next owner, tenant, buyer, or inspection.
The wow effect does not happen by accident. It comes from experience, teamwork, proper tools, enough approved time, and direct owner-led accountability.
Daily professional practice, surface awareness, and refined cleaning technique.
A trained team can divide work, sequence rooms, and deliver a more consistent result.
Commercial vacuums, steam/detailing tools, Kärcher equipment where appropriate, and task-specific tools for approved scope.
Standard, Premium, and By-Request items are explained so expectations are clear before booking.
Direct communication, owner-led planning, insured and bonded service, and real follow-up.
For clients who want the right team, clear scope, and the best result — not just the cheapest rate.
Owner-Led Accountability
Before the team arrives, Maria Team Cleaning confirms your scope, access details, priorities, and service level. We help decide whether Standard is enough for handover or whether Premium makes more sense for inspection, listing, landlord, buyer, or new-tenant expectations.
If you need light sorting, organizing, or extra detail work before handover, tell us what you need. We'll confirm what fits the scope before adding time or cost.
Popular custom requests
Scope limits: Not included unless separately approved: heavy junk, hazardous materials, construction debris, large furniture, or unsafe work. Normal household garbage bags may be removed when agreed in advance.
We'll review your request and confirm time, cost, and scope before adding it.
